Position Summary
The Recovery Coordinator is responsible for facilitating donor tissue recovery operations, ensuring compliance with FDA, EBAA, and organizational protocols while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role supports cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Clinical, and Distribution, Research, and contributes to the organization's mission of providing safe, high-quality tissue for transplantation and research.
Responsibilities
Respond promptly to donor notifications and plan for timely recoveries.
Schedule and deploy recovery teams, including self, as directed by the Recovery Team Lead.
Conduct sterile surgical recovery of corneal tissue using in-situ and enucleation techniques.
Draw and qualify blood samples for serological testing.
Perform donor physical assessments and review medical records to determine eligibility.
Confirm consent documentation and Donor Risk Assessment information.
Label and package tissue and specimens per SOPs for transport to processing labs and consignees.
Ship donor blood samples to reference laboratories.
Maintain compliance with FDA, EBAA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Ensure adherence to clinical and regulatory guidelines during recovery.
Assist in audits and quality reviews of recovery procedures.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of recovery activities.
Enter donor and recovery data into approved databases.
Manage inventory and equipment used in recovery operations.
Ensure readiness of instruments and supplies for recovery procedures.
Be punctual and proactively communicate scheduling conflicts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Clinical, and Distribution.
Attend departmental meetings and contribute to performance reviews when requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
